Manhattan Review's TOEFL services have helped thousands of students around the world pass their TOEFL requirements, become more comfortable speakers of English, and begin undergraduate or graduate degree programs at elite universities. Our TOEFL clients have been accepted to Oxford, Cambridge, King's College London, the University of Edinburgh, the London School of Economics, Harvard, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, the University of Virginia, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, UC Berkeley, the California Institute of Technology, and other great schools to numerous to mention. Former Manhattan Review clients have taken advantage of job opportunities at Warsaw companies and Fortune 500 businesses in the United States. A brief list of these outfits includes Bellona Publishing House, Carlsberg Polska, PKP Group, BBI Development NFI, Twenty-First Century Fox, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, and State Farm Insurance. We hope that we'll eventually be able to add your name to our long list of successful former students.
At Manhattan Review, our new TOEFL students frequently ask about the TOEFL scores they should target for university acceptance. There is no easy answer to this question, because TOEFL requirements are set by the divisions and/or departments at individual universities, and minimum TOEFL benchmarks can vary by academic discipline, degree level, and degree program. We can, however, say that total scores of 100, with 25 on each section, will be good enough in most cases (we strongly urge students to become familiar with the standards associated with their specific degree offerings). Programs that require scores above 100 tend to be few and far between, and there are many selective schools that are willing to accept applicants with TOEFL scores in the 85-95 range. Conditional admission is sometimes a possibility for students who initially fail to pass the TOEFL, but we advise against this approach. The remedial English requirements that accompany provisional admission are almost always more expensive and time-consuming than effective TOEFL prep. My classes with Mr. Scheno were perfect to prepare for the actual TOEFL test – I can give my total recommendation for attending his classes. During our first appopintment he analyzed my strengths and weaknesses to set up my personal course syllabus. These customized classes improved my writing, speaking, reading and listening abilities a lot and raised my confidence to succeed the TOEFL test, which I in fact succeeded. At any time, Mr. Scheno responded rapidly and accurately to my questions and was available even beyond classes. It was a great and successfull experience to work with Mr. Scheno. Many thanks!
